W-O Students Place 2nd in Landscape Construction Skills Competition

Congratulations to WODSS students Adam Arthurs and Mac Ross on their performance in the regional Landscape Construction Skills Competition held on March 7 at Premier Equipment in Elmira. Our students placed 2nd against teams from around the region, including, KCI, GPSS and EDSS. Way to go W-O!

Invitation for Parent Event from Sir John A. Macdonald SS

The parent council of Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School extend an invitation to a Free parent workshop on “Your Brain on Beethoven.” Join the community for an evening with: the Dean of Music from Wilfrid Laurier, the Director of Music from WLU, and a panel discussion on the impact of music in our lives. The evening includes musical performances from a local, professional strings quartet.
The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7 at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School in Waterloo in the cafetorium.

W-O Chamber Choir Performs in Plattsville

Waterloo-Oxford Chamber Choir was the Guest Choir at the Plattsville Evangelical Missionary Church on Sunday, March 4, 2018. The choir performed three songs for the appreciative congregation, including the African song, Rise up my Fair One and He Never Failed me Yet.

WCSSAA Finalists – Girls’ Hockey

Congratulations to our WODSS Girls’ Hockey team as WCSSAA Finalists!  The team had an excellent season, with only one loss, which earned them a place in the WCSSAA finals. The team faced off against Bluevale on Wednesday, February 28 at Rim Park, but despite a great effort, came up short of the championship. The team’s excellent standing has garnered them another shot at a championship as they will now move on to CWOSSA in Brantford on Monday March 5. Good luck to the team at CWOSSA!

WODSS New Dundee Optimist Youth Achievement Award Winners 2018

Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School congratulates our New Dundee Optimist Youth Achievement Award winners who were recognized through the Optimist club of New Dundee on February 27, 2018. The purpose of these awards is to bring recognition to youth that have demonstrated exemplary behaviour, made positive contributions, and as a result could be considered role models for others. These are individuals who display a positive attitude, strong work ethic, respect and compassion for others, and set a good example for their peers.

W-O Music Presents The Waterloo Police Band Concert

Waterloo-Oxford Music was proud to present a wonderful concert on Monday, February 26 with The Waterloo Police Band, W-O Senior Concert Band, Baden PS and Sir Adam Beck PS Intermediate Bands. An appreciative crowd was entertained with amazing performances by the Ceremonial Band of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, including songs performed by the Waterloo Police jazz orchestra, Copper Brass. The audience enjoyed a collaborative performance by: Baden P.S. Intermediate Band, Sir Adam Beck Intermediate Band, WODSS Senior Concert Band and the Ceremonial Band of the Waterloo Regional Police Service as they played Bohemian Rhapsody.
Thank you to all our musicians and everyone who helped contribute to making this evening such a great event.
