Grade 9 Take Our Kids to Work Day – Wednesday, November 14, 2018

Take Our Kids to Work is an annual program in which Grade 9 students are hosted by parents, friends, relatives and volunteers at workplaces across the country on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.  The program, which began in 1994, supports career development by helping students connect school, the world of work, and their own futures. Permission forms were sent home with every grade 9 student several weeks ago.  All completed forms were due to the Guidance Office on Monday, November 12, 2018. If your Grade 9 student still wishes to participate, please complete the attached Consent Form and submit it to Ms. Parker in Guidance Office by, Tuesday, November 13.

Friday, November 16, 2018 is a PD Day – no school for students

W-O Attends Waterloo Regional DECA Competition

On Saturday November 3 the W-O DECA chapter attended the Waterloo Regional competition for DECA Ontario. The event was held at St. Mary’s High School where they competed against approximately 1700 students from the greater KW and London areas. W-O’s 35 member chapter achieved 9 top role play ribbons, 7 top 10 test ribbons, and 2 overall score medals. DECA is a business club for case competition, with a variety of event categories ranging from Sports and Entertainment Marketing, to Entrepreneurship, to Human Resource Management, and prepares students immensely for post secondary and work environments. Congratulations to our winners, as well as all competitors on an excellent day! Provincials qualifiers will be released in coming weeks, and we look forward to a great provincial competition in Toronto in February.

Chicken Cam 2018

We have chicken eggs in Mr. McIntyre’s Grade 11 and 12 Green Industries classes!

The students are learning about the process of incubating chicken eggs. Once they hatch, the students will participate in caring for the chickens while documenting their growth over the next several weeks.

Keep checking back to watch them hatch in real time and come visit them in Room 104 once they are out.

Expected hatch date is Monday, October 29!!!
