Congratulations to WODSS students Amy Darkes and Nyomi Jackson whose artwork was commissioned by Unitron in Kitchener! Unitron offered a unique experiential learning opportunity for students to design artwork for Unitron’s renovated meeting spaces using the theme “visual sound”. Students were invited to hear about Unitron and the project and provided with a “slide show” of photos to give them a sense of the space they were designing for. Students submitted their proposed design concepts, which were reviewed by Unitron staff. Students of selected projects were offered a tour of the site, and additional feedback about their proposals. As an added bonus, each piece was considered “commissioned” art, and students were given $250 to cover the cost of their materials, design, and final art piece. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to gain valuable experience that they could add to their portfolios.

Artwork from two students from WODSS were among those selected, and their work was “unveiled” at an Appreciation event at Unitron on Thursday April 27th. Way to go Nyomi and Amy!
