WODSS Student Wins Writing Contest Award
December 15th, 2017
Congratulations to Rose Danen who won a $500 award for her entry in the HeforShe Writing contest through the University of Waterloo. Rose will have an opportunity to attend a dinner and her writing will be included in a special publication by the University of Waterloo on gender equity in March 2018. Here is some information about the contest that Rose entered:
As part of the commitment to the UN Women’s HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 initiative, the University of Waterloo presented the HeForShe writing contest. Through poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction, student and community reflections were welcomed on the challenges they have faced, but also their hopes, dreams, and directions for the future.
Prizes were awarded for the top submission in each category (poetry, creative non-fiction, and fiction). Selected submissions will be included in a special University of Waterloo anthology on gender equity that is published on International Women’s Day.
Rose received her cheque Friday, December 15 from Mr. Nick Manning, Chief Communication Officer of the Waterloo Region District School Board.
Way to Go Rose!
