Dear Parents and Guardians:

On Friday, January 27th, and Monday, January 30th, during their regularly scheduled MTH1WI math classes, grade 9 students at Waterloo-Oxford will be taking part in the Education Quality and Accountability Office’s (EQAO’s) online Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics. This assessment is computer-based and is composed of two sessions (Session A and Session B) containing a total of 50 questions and must be written on a school-issued student Chromebook. Each session has two stages and is designed to be completed in 60 minutes and in one sitting. Students who need additional time to complete the assessment sessions will be accommodated.

To familiarize themselves with the content and format of the Grade 9 Math EQAO assessment, students can go to eqao.com and access the Sample Test. Students can complete and receive feedback on the questions contained in the online Sample Test. They will also be able to use this opportunity to familiarize themselves with the assessment tools they will find on the online platform.

The results from the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics will be used to support student achievement in numeracy but will not count towards a student’s final grade in MTH1WI.

For more information about the EQAO and to view the Sample Test, visit EQAO’s website (www.eqao.com).

Thank you for continuing to support us as we support our students.

Sincerely,

Sandy Millar
