It is with a heavy heart that the Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School community mourns the loss of Jack Lichty. Jack attended Wellesley Public School and came to W-O this September as a Grade 9 student.

Along with our Guidance Counsellors and Administrators, members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff.

The flags at Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School and the WRDSB  Education Centre will be flown at half-mast this week in memory of Jack.

If you feel your child may have been impacted by Jack’s death, please do not hesitate to reach out to W-O so that we can check in with them. Our thoughts are with Jack’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

A drive-by visitation will take place on Thursday, November 5th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley. Due to COVID-19, the funeral service will be limited to immediate family, but the public is invited to participate online through Zoom from Wellesley Mennonite Church at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88556580876 on Friday, November 6th, at 1pm.

Sincerely,

Paul Morgan
Acting Principal
