Congratulations to Amy Darkes of Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School for winning the 2017 Pink Shirt Design Contest! Amy entered The Waterloo Region Record and The Newspapers in Education contest to design the 2017 Pink Shirt Logo and created the winning entry. Amy’s design and signature are on this year’s Pink Shirt Day T-Shirt and as the contest winner, Amy received Rangers tickets, a 1 year Waterloo Region Record Membership, $200 and more!
Pink Shirt Day was started in 2007 when two high school students in Nova Scotia witnessed a grade 9 boy being teased for wearing a pink shirt. This story initiated Pink Shirt Day which has now become an annual event to stand against bullying everywhere.

Processes of all t-shirt purchases go toward WAYVE: Wellness Acceptance Youth Voices Empowerment (WAYVE) is a mental health awareness and bullying prevention group focusing on youth leadership and community building in Waterloo Region
