SafeTALK Suicide Awareness Information Session for Parents – November 10, 2015

The Waterloo Region Assembly of Public School Councils (WRAPSC), in partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), are looking
for parents/guardians of student(s) in grades 7-12 to be trained as safeTALK TRAINERS. Funding for this initiative has been provided by the Ministry of Education through a Parent Reaching Out grant. Read more here:Safetalk

Grade 9 Take Our Kids to Work Day – Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Take Our Kids to Work is an annual program in which Grade 9 students are hosted by parents, friends, relatives and volunteers at workplaces across the country on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. The program, which began in 1994, supports career development by helping students connect school, the world of work, and their own futures. If your Grade 9 student wishes to participate, please complete the attached Consent Form and submit it to the Main Office by Monday, October 30, 2015. Parent Letter Consent Form

Educational Support Staff/Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (ESS/OSSTF) and the Custodial and Maintenance Association/Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (CAMA/OSSTF) are currently in ongoing province-wide labour negotiations with the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Public School Boards Association (OPSBA). Presentation to students for post-secondary options

Guidance counsellors have been visiting senior English classes and discussing post-secondary options and application procedures.  If you were absent the day of the presentation or aren’t currently taking English at W-O, there will be a presentation on Friday Oct. 16 at 11:40 am in room 512.  Please sign up in the Guidance office.
