March 29th, 2016
On Thursday, March 31st, the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test will be written. Students writing this graduation requirement test have been given letters indicating where they are to write on this day.
The test begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 11:25a.m. On the morning of the Literacy Test, alpha lists by last name will be posted so that writers can confirm where they are writing.
Writers are to please bring a blue or black pen, a sharpened pencil and eraser to write the test. No other materials should be coming to the classroom. Please do not bring in reading material, writers are encouraged to use the whole time for the test.
The break is only 15 minutes so there might not be enough time to get anything from the vending machines during the break so you may wish to bring a snack to eat while on your break.
No electronic devices will be permitted in the test rooms. Please leave them in your locker before reporting to your room to write the test.
Lunch will follow the test and will end at 12:25 p.m.
Please note that no food service will be available on the day of the Literacy Test. The cafeteria will be open all day for quiet study as all teachers will be supervising the Literacy Test in the morning. From 12:25 – 2:24 p.m., teachers will be available for tutorial/remedial support and department locations will be posted throughout the school.
The buses will be running on their usual schedule.
Any students who arrive at school in the morning and are not writing the Literacy Test must remain in the cafeteria for the morning engaged in quiet study. The library will be used as a writing location for students writing the OSSLT and therefore will not be available for quiet study even after lunch.
If a student wishes to leave, then they must sign out in the attendance office with parent permission.
